Girls Can Be
Girls Can Be
Girls Can BeĀ is a group of Victoria, BC women who have grown up with many enabling choices who envision a word in which girls get access to education, health care, and opportunities, are safe and valued.
In 2011 we raised funds to support the development of the Girls Can Be Women’s Centre in the Saki Naka Slum in Mumbai, India. This centre is providing women with vocational training, literacy classes, fair wages, daycare and health camps. The goal is to have the centre running as a social enterprise that supports itself.
This project was developed in partnership with The Dirty Wall Project a not for profit society run by Kane Rya, also of Victoria – it is a small organization that spends every dollar donated entirely on filling the needs of the people Kane meets in India.
